Here is the much requested adult size apron! The kids crochet Christmas aprons were such a hit that many of you wanted a larger size. I have increased the pattern counts to give you this bigger version! It fits my pre-teen (a little big on him) and is perfect for me (I would say I’m a size S-M). This gives you flexibility to make this for older children and adults!
My kids wanted me to make a Grinch version BUT because this is a copyrighted character, I won’t be posting the pattern for the face embellishments. You could easily google to find patterns for these or use the bigger apron pattern as a base for any of the versions I’ve already posted! All you need to do is change up the color and you have a completely different design! Make it in brown and white for the gingerbread man or red and white for santa. So may options!
Materials:
– Bernat Super Value yarn in Lush Green, White, and Berry Red. Shop yarn at Yarnspirations.com!
– Size H Crochet Hook
– Tapestry Needle
Size: Apron is approximately 23 inches wide and 23 inches tall (not including the neck strap)
Adult Size Apron Pattern:
with green (or main apron color)
Chain 75, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain, chain 1, turn (74 SC)
Row 2-35: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (74 SC)
Row 36: SC Decrease, SC in next 70, SC Decrease, chain 1, turn (72 SC)
Row 37: SC Decrease, SC in next 68, SC Decrease, chain 1, turn (70 SC)
Row 38: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (70 SC)
Row 39: SC Decrease, SC in next 66, SC Decrease, chain 1, turn (68 SC)
Row 40: SC Decrease, SC in next 64, SC Decrease, chain 1, turn (66 SC)
Row 41: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (66 SC)
Row 42: SC Decrease, SC in next 62, SC Decrease, chain 1, turn (64 SC)
Row 43: SC Decrease, SC in next 60, SC Decrease, chain 1, turn (62 SC)
Row 44: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (62 SC)
Row 45: SC Decrease, SC in next 58, SC Decrease, chain 1, turn (62 SC)
Row 46: SC Decrease, SC in next 56, SC Decrease, chain 1, turn (60 SC)
Row 47: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (58 SC)
Row 48: SC Decrease, SC in next 54, SC Decrease, chain 1, turn (58 SC)
Row 49: SC Decrease, SC in next 52, SC Decrease, chain 1, turn (56 SC)
Row 50: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (54 SC)
Row 51: SC Decrease, SC in next 50, SC Decrease, chain 1, turn (52 SC)
Row 52: SC Decrease, SC in next 48, SC Decrease, chain 1, turn (50 SC)
Row 53: SC in each stitch across, fasten off and weave in ends (50 SC)
with red yarn (or middle strap color)
Chain 60 then attach to top edge of apron and SC 50 stitches, chain 61, turn
Row 54-55: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (170 SC)
Fasten off and weave in ends.
Now lets make the top of the apron.
Count 67 stitches in from the apron tie, in next stitch join in green yarn (or main apron color) and chain 1
Row 56: SC along 36 stitches (leave remaining stitches unworked), chain 1, turn
Row 57-84: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn
NOTE: if making the apron pictured you will want to make the 2 white rows and 3 red rows for the last 5 rows.
Fasten off and weave in ends
Neck Strap:
Note: If you make your starting chain fairly tight then it will naturally curve!
with red yarn (or strap color of your choice), chain 66, SC in second chain from hook and the rest of the way down chain (65 SC)
Row 2-3: SC in each stitch across, chain 1, turn (65 SC)
Fasten off and use loose ends to stitch the strap ends to the top edges of the apron.

how much of the main color yarn for an adult do you need?
I made the Santa apron & everyone loves it! I am obsessed with the Grinch and began making it but I cannot find a good pattern for the eyes and I can’t seem to figure it out. Thank you for the wonderful patterns though.
