We are already 4 months into the year! The barn square was a design I had previously made with intentions to create a farm blanket with a fun border (which I still might do in the future), but for now I am using this square as a part of this House Blanket Crochet-Along!
What is the House Blanket CAL?
Each month in 2025, I will be posting a House themed corner-to-corner crochet square. Each house will reflect the seasons and/or holidays! At the end of the year I will stitch all 12 of the house squares together to make a stunning blanket of happy homes.

Each square starts with a 25×25 pixel graph. I use the corner-to-corner technique to crochet the square and the finished size of the crocheted squares are approximately 17 x 17 inches.
If you are new to the Corner-to-Corner (C2C) Crochet technique, let me explain a little bit about it. You can take a pixel graph and turn it into a crocheted piece. By starting in one corner of the graph (the lower right hand is most common place to start), you will crochet diagonally in rows until you get to the other corner. One pixel square = a chain 2 + 3 HDC stitches. Please note that I am using HDC stitches for the C2C instead of DC.

– Red Heart Super Saver Yarn in in colors Cherry Red, Burgundy, Spring Green, Light Blue, Dusty Grey, Saffron, and White.

The yarn I am using is Red Heart Super Saver in Light Blue (background), Cherry Red (barn), White (roof, window frame, and door frame), Burgundy (door, window, and silo), Saffron Yellow (hay under window) and Dusty Gray (silo top). Feel free to adjust the colors to your liking! I’m getting a lot of emails asking for the color list for the entire House Blanket CAL project. Unfortunately I am not working that far ahead and I don’t have yarn picked out for the upcoming squares. I do plan on having several colors repeat throughout the squares and you will want to have a variety of blue yarn on hand for the backgrounds of the squares.
