The July square is here, and it’s all about capturing those oceanside summer vibes with a touch of patriotic flair!
This month’s House Blanket CAL square features a red and white striped lighthouse sitting amongst splashing waves, set against a deep blue background. The top of the lighthouse is lit up with bright yellow yarn. Imagine how fun it would be to use glow-in-the-dark yarn for that part, making it shine like a beacon at night!
I’m using Red Heart Super Saver in Royal Blue, Light Blue, Cherry Red, White, Bright Yellow, and Dusty Gray to bring this design to life. These colors not only evoke the feel of a summer beach getaway but also tie in perfectly with the patriotic spirit of the 4th of July.
Can you believe we already have 7 squares completed?! And you can always jump ahead and make the October and December squares as well!
What is the House Blanket CAL?
Each month in 2025, I will be posting a House themed corner-to-corner crochet square. Each house will reflect the seasons and/or holidays! At the end of the year I will stitch all 12 of the house squares together to make a stunning blanket of happy homes.

Each square starts with a 25×25 pixel graph. I use the corner-to-corner technique to crochet the square and the finished size of the crocheted squares are approximately 17 x 17 inches.
If you are new to the Corner-to-Corner (C2C) Crochet technique, let me explain a little bit about it. You can take a pixel graph and turn it into a crocheted piece. By starting in one corner of the graph (the lower right hand is most common place to start), you will crochet diagonally in rows until you get to the other corner. One pixel square = a chain 2 + 3 HDC stitches. Please note that I am using HDC stitches for the C2C instead of DC.
