The September square in our House Blanket Crochet-Along is here, and it’s all about capturing the magic of late summer and early fall with this playful Treehouse square!
This design features a little ladder leading up to a treehouse nestled in a lush green tree, set against a golden-yellow backdrop. Perfect for evoking the nostalgia of backyard adventures. I can almost picture kids building forts, climbing trees, or camping out in their very own treehouse as the leaves start to change.
For this square, I’m using Red Heart Super Saver in Cornmeal (background), Spring Green (leaves), Coffee (tree trunk), Cafe Latte (roof, door, ladder), and Buff Beige (house), which bring the treehouse and its leafy surroundings to life. These rich, natural tones complement the other squares beautifully and give a warm, autumnal feel.
This is the 9th square in our CAL, with only three more to go! You can always skip ahead and work on the October Haunted House and Christmas Gingerbread House squares. But keep in mind I will be reposting those with a more detail during their respective months.
What is the House Blanket CAL?
Each month in 2025, I will be posting a House themed corner-to-corner crochet square. Each house will reflect the seasons and/or holidays! At the end of the year I will stitch all 12 of the house squares together to make a stunning blanket of happy homes.

Each square starts with a 25×25 pixel graph. I use the corner-to-corner technique to crochet the square and the finished size of the crocheted squares are approximately 17 x 17 inches.
If you are new to the Corner-to-Corner (C2C) Crochet technique, let me explain a little bit about it. You can take a pixel graph and turn it into a crocheted piece. By starting in one corner of the graph (the lower right hand is most common place to start), you will crochet diagonally in rows until you get to the other corner. One pixel square = a chain 2 + 3 HDC stitches. Please note that I am using HDC stitches for the C2C instead of DC.

TIP: Wind up small balls of yellow and brown yarn before you start. It will help when changing colors. The first half of the treehouse is the most tedious. Especially the ladder. Beyond that it’s smooth sailing!
All of the house squares are reversible! The back is a mirror images as you can see in the picture below.

Speaking of treehouses, did I ever show you the one my husband built during COVID? It was such a special project and a beloved addition to our backyard, full of memories and fun.
