It’s officially December 1st, which means we’ve stitched our way through all 12 months of the House Blanket CAL! What an incredible year it’s been and for our grand finale, I’m bringing back a design many of you know and love: the Gingerbread House!
Celebrating the season with this sweet and whimsical square felt like the perfect way to wrap up the year. From gumdrop accents to the classic cookie-brown walls, this square brings all the festive charm to your blanket just in time for the holidays.

What is the House Blanket CAL?
Each month in 2025, I posted a House themed corner-to-corner crochet square. Each house reflected the seasons and/or holidays! At the end of the year I will stitch all 12 of the house squares together to make a stunning blanket of happy homes.
The links to all the patterns in this project will be available in one spot on the
>>> House Blanket Landing Page <<<
Each square starts with a 25×25 pixel graph. I use the corner-to-corner technique to crochet the square and the finished size of the crocheted squares are approximately 17 x 17 inches.
If you are new to the Corner-to-Corner (C2C) Crochet technique, let me explain a little bit about it. You can take a pixel graph and turn it into a crocheted piece. By starting in one corner of the graph (the lower right hand is most common place to start), you will crochet diagonally in rows until you get to the other corner. One pixel square = a chain 2 + 3 HDC stitches. Please note that I am using HDC stitches for the C2C instead of DC.
Before you get started, below is a Corner-to-Corner Video Tutorial if you need some help with the technique:

A quick tip that made this square SO much easier: pre-cut your yarn strands! You’ll need short lengths for the gumdrops along the roofline and the candy cane stripes. I cut each strand to about 40 inches long, but here’s an easy visual: Wrap the yarn around two fingers about 10 times and you’ll have more than enough for each gumdrop or candy cane square.

I’m not going to lie… this square has a lot of color changes and a lot of ends to weave in. But the pre-cut strands make the whole process smoother, and I promise that weaving in those ends goes much faster when you’re binging a good show or listening to a podcast.
And here’s a helpful finishing trick: if any of your colors don’t quite meet at a corner (like a candy cane stripe where the red and white didn’t connect on mine), just use the loose tail to gently stitch the colors together while you’re weaving in the ends. It blends perfectly and makes everything look crisp and intentional.

Fun fact: the squares are completely reversible!
The back is a mirror image of the front, so no matter how you join your blanket, it will look fabulous on both sides. Below is what the backside looks like.

Look how incredible they all look laid out together!
Twelve months, twelve little houses, and one big blanket. Seeing them side by side is such a satisfying moment.
Currently the blanket is measuring 68 inches tall x 52 inches wide WITHOUT having the join or the border.

Now it’s time for me to start joining the squares and working up the border. If you want to jump ahead, I’ll be using the same join technique as my C2C Gnome Blanket. SEE IT HERE.
I’ll share a follow-up post once everything is joined and the border is complete. I have a few fun ideas in mind and can’t wait to show you the finished blanket!
