Lion Brand has come out with a new yarn that is full of texture and color! Appropriately named Textures®, this yarn is a worsted-weight, tightly twisted, self-striping boucle yarn. It’s extremely soft to the touch and I’m going nuts over the variegated color combos! See all the colors HERE.
When I first received a sample of this yarn (Thanks Lion Brand!), I thought about making a baby blanket. Single crochet stitches proved to be a bit difficult though. This yarn is a bit similar to fun fur. It’s hard to see your stitches… so I had a second idea, a loose cowl! I came across this NET SCOWL pattern by Kate Dixon on Ravelry (It’s a free download!) and knew it was going to be perfect! I used one whole skein of the Lion Brand Textures yarn in Arctic Sky. It was so easy to work up and I love the versatility of the cowl. So many different ways you can wear it! Off the shoulder, bunched up around the neck, hanging down, and more. I added a button to the spot where I joined the corners (full tutorial on joining is included in the free pattern link above). You could absolutely make the cowl longer by using two skeins. The best part is, you can’t screw this one up! I made a bunch of mistakes while crocheting this (a missed stitch here and there) but you can’t see any errors! The texture of the yarn and nature of the pattern hid all of the little mishaps that might happen.
A quick project like this is perfect for holiday gifts! And with so many color options, each one will be one of a kind!
