Last year was all about the granny square crossbody and this year we are making granny square backpacks!
You only need ONE skein of Red Heart All-in-One Granny Square Yarn to make this Backpack paired with a ball of White yarn. I was able to get 15 granny squares from one single skein!
This pattern is NEW on Yarnspirations.com and it comes with complete pattern instructions, diagrams, stitch keys, photos, and more! There are also instructions to line the backpack with fabric (which I personally haven’t done yet).

You can use any colorway of Red Heart All-in-One Granny Square yarn for this backpack. I especially loved the blues and purples in the color Amethyst!

This yarn has pre-set color changes that make the perfect granny square. So no need to fasten off yarn or make change colors. Let the yarn do the work for you! It usually takes me few tries to get my tension right, but after that, it’s smooth sailing!
The backpack pattern calls for 14 squares so I used the extra square to make a matching crochet coin purse keychain pouch.

This drawstring backpack is such a great size! It’s about 18 x 18 inches and there’s a ton of space to carry everything you need on-the-go.
